Resource Development assists in seeking external public and private external funding for El Centro College. We are responsible for managing the College's relationships with government funding agencies, private foundations, and corporations interested in supporting our programs and services.

GOALS

Resource Development initiates, facilitates, and expedites activities and processes to obtain external funding and other resources to further the College's strategic goals for workforce development, academic quality, student outcomes and success, effective deployment of technology, organizational strength, and cost-effective use of resources.

Resource Development supports El Centro College's and the Dallas Community College District's commitment to the pursuit of alternative funding sources that are consistent with our College's mission, philosophy, goals, and long-range plans to provide the highest quality education and service to the public community. Funds are used for a wide variety of college programs, activities, opportunities, and services in an exceptional student-centered learning environment.

We coordinate and oversee the College's resource development activities by providing support and assistance to faculty, staff, and administrators in the development, submission, and management of grants and contracts, and act as liaison with current and potential external funding sources.

SERVICES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Resource Development staff work closely with the College's Vice Presidents, Deans, faculty and staff to identify priority projects, and provide diverse funding-related services to the college community.


RESOURCE FOR EXTERNAL FUNDING

  • Identifying and researching strategic and coordinated funding opportunities with federal, state, and private funding sources
  • Reviewing all external funding sources and opportunities for eligibility, quality, priority, compliance, and appropriateness
  • Remaining current on priorities of the College
  • Abreast of latest applications of technology in improving educational programs, student services, and institutional management
  • Sharing ideas for collaboration with potential partners
  • Obtaining and distributing information on funding sources and grant opportunities
  • Monitoring legislation and appropriations impacting grant programs
  • Stimulating interest among faculty and staff in the grants process
  • Supporting the maintenance of solid relationships with financial supporters and donor prospects
  • Encouraging strategic partner formation
  • Serving as liaison with funding agencies and proposal partners

REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PROPOSAL IDEAS

  • Assisting with project planning and development
  • Ensuring that all requests for funding are consistent with the College's priorities and are approved in advance by the College Administration
  • Providing technical and writing assistance with proposal development and letters of solicitation for external funds
  • Reviewing, editing, and approving proposal drafts
  • Assisting in completing necessary forms
  • Coordinating internal review, approval, and sign-off of proposals
  • Assisting with assembling, copying, and submission/transmittal of final proposals to funding sources
  • Submitting appropriate and timely proposals
  • Assisting with budget construction, in cooperation with District Grants Accounting

PROJECT DIRECTORS GRANTS MANAGEMENT SUPPORT

  • Receiving official notifications of award and reviewing/negotiating terms and conditions
  • Facilitating and supervising management of grant projects
  • Maintaining quality control in the total grantsmanship effort
  • Maintaining the official files on all pending and unfunded proposals, as well as all active and completed grant proposals
  • Maintain appropriate records on each grant
  • Monitoring of cash and non-cash matches in conjunction with the District Grants Accounting Office
  • Ensuring that all externally funded projects are administered in accordance with the District's, College's, and funder's policies, terms, contract, regulations, and other stipulations
  • Evaluating the progress and impact of funded projects
  • Monitoring completion and submission of progress and final reports on
    funded projects
  • Developing recognition by faculty and staff as a valuable resource in helping them achieve departmental objectives and goals
  • Providing training and counseling to faculty and staff in all phases of grants development and management
  • Developing online resources, information, and services
