TexShare Cards
The TexShare Card allows you to access and/or check materials out from libraries outside the DCCCD. Only those libraries participating
in the TexShare program will honor the Texshare Card.
A list of participating libraries is available on the Web at: TexShare
How to Obtain and Use a TexShare Card
- Request a TexShare Card at the El Centro library Circulation Desk.
- Present the TexShare Card and any additional identification required by the other library.
Please surrender your TexShare Card if asked.
- The TexShare library Card does not guarantee check-out privileges.
It does allow you access to other libraries. Most, but not all, will let you check materials out.
- The cardholder must present the TexShare Card to check out materials from a participating library.
The card must be presented each time materials are checked out.
No expired card will be honored.
- You can return materials in person or by first-class mail to the lending library.
- The TexShare card holder is responsible for materials checked out until they are returned to and received by the owning
library.
- You are expected to pay any fees associated with lost materials, overdues or damages.
TexShare Cards Guidelines
- The cardholder should use his/her own library before requesting materials from other libraries. The purpose of the TexSharecCard
is to provide access to materials not available in the cardholder's library.
- Each library sets its own policies for the TexShare card. These policies vary by number of books and/or type of materials allowed
to be checked out; length of check-out period; number of renewals; fees charged for overdues, lost materials, damages or deposit fees.
- The lending library has the perogerative to check-out materials to their own students only or check-out materials to you through
Interlibrary Loan.
- Any abuses, such as:
- checking out an excessive number of materials in one subject area
- checking out materials already owned by the home campus library
- checking out materials not used for research
should be avoided.
- Overdues, damage fees or lost materials fees not paid are reported to the student's home library. A block will be placed on the
student's record.
- TexShare cards will not be reissued to students with poor library records.
