The Program

Middle College students take their high school classes on a accelerated schedule that covers a semester's work in every nine weeks. Classes meet every day between 11:30 and 5:00. This schedule allows students more flexibility to take college classes in the morning, work, or handle family responsibilities. Students are encouraged to schedule all medical or dental appointments in the morning to avoid missing afternoon classes. Students take three or four classes every nine-week cycle.

High School classes in English-Language Arts, Computer Information Systems, Foreign Language, Math, Music History, Science, and Social studies, are taught by Dallas ISD teachers, Students have the opportunity to gain advanced academic or elective credit by taking classes at El Centro College.

The Goals Middle College sets for its students include.

  • High school graduation
  • Improved attendance and academic achievement
  • Increased motivation and engagement in learning
  • Increased maturity and coping skills
